The ARAI certified mileage of Baleno is 21.4 litres in petrol and 27.39 litres in diesel which is more than the Jazz and i20. Baleno also has the weight advantage over the other 2 cars as its much lighter which makes it a fuel efficient car. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission along with the CVT option only in petrol.
The i20 Elite is on par with the Baleno . If we talk about performance, it takes 15.49 seconds to reach the speed of 100 kph which is less than Baleno. The petrol variant gets 1.2 litre churning out 83 bhp and 114 Nm of torque peak. The diesel variant comes with 1.4-litres unit producing 90 bhp and 220 Nm of torque peak. It comes up with a 5-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, the diesel derivative is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. It has a mileage of 18.6 litres in petrol and 22.54 in diesel.
Honda Jazz reaches at the speed of 100 kph within 14.89 seconds. The petrol mill gets a 1.2 litre churning out 90 bhp (which is the highest as compared to Baleno and i20) and 110 Nm of torque peak (torque numbers stands at the bottom). The Jazz diesel engine comes in 1.5 litre which produces 100 bhp of power and 200 Nm of torque peak. It has a mileage of 18.2 litres in petrol and 27.3 litres in diesel. Just like a Baleno, it also comes up in CVT option in petrol along with a 5-speed manual transmission in both the engines.
3) Interior and Features
The interior style of Baleno is kept different from the other cars like Swift and Ertiga. Along with Jazz, it has a black theme which gives a sporty look, unlike i20 which has more of a beige interior. All the cars offer an infotainment system with support for Aux-in, Bluetooth, USB. If we talk about boot space, The Maruti Suzuki Baleno offers you the space of 339 litres, Hyundai i20 elite offers you 285 litres and Honda Jazz provides you 354 litres of space.
If budget is not an issue and you are looking for the most capacious hatchback, extreme smooth CVT transmission, and paddle shifts, Jazz is the one you should go for. But if you talk about in every perspective, be it price tag, fuel efficiency, safety, and other features, it is not far behind Honda Jazz and would a make a great buy.
